Dr Mia Ridge is the British Library’s Digital Curator for Western Heritage Collections. Part of the Digital Research team, she provides advice and training on computational research, AI / machine learning and crowdsourcing. A Co-Investigator on Living with Machines (2018-23), she co-curated the Living with Machines exhibition with Leeds Museums and Galleries (2022-23).

The abstract of the talk is as follows:

Mia will provide an overview of collections and data-driven research in digital scholarship at the British Library, focusing in particular on digital humanities. She will showcase the Living with Machines project, a collaboration developing data science methods for historical research at scale, and share how the British Library ensures staff have the skills to support research projects that integrate digital methods, including emerging machine learning and AI tools.
