On 31 October, Prof. Niels Brügger gives lecture about three cases of Web History

The video recording of the lecture is available online via the following link.

HDSM is thrilled to announce that Prof. Niels Brügger (Aarhus University) will deliver a lecture “Three cases of web history: a country’s entire web domain, tracing one term’s history, and investigating the communicative history of football clubs’ websites” on October 31st as part of the Oberseminar series. We are delighted to invite you to this event, which will be held in hybrid format. You can join in person within the walls of TU Darmstadt or online via Zoom. If you would like to attend the event, please follow the instructions on Eventbrite to secure your spot!

The abstract of Prof. Niels Brügger’s talk is as follows:

This lecture will introduce web history as a field of study, including reflections on the challenges of using web archives as source material. The lecture gives three examples of web historical projects I have been working with: the history of the entire Danish web domain, the history of the web activity on the Danish web related to the use of the term ‘mHealth’, and the history of how Danish football clubs in the Superliga (Danish ‘Bundesliga’) have communicated on their websites 1996-2021. Most of the lecture will focus on the latter topic, and may draw parallels to the history of SV Darmstadt 98’s website www.sv98.de

The full program of the Oberseminar series is available on our website. We have many exciting lectures planned for the future. Take a moment to check it out!
