Sara Akhlaq’s keynote speech at FORGE23

On 4–6 October 2023 in Tübingen FORGE23 (Forschungsdaten in den Geisteswissenschaften – kritisch betrachtet) took place.
At the opening session, Sara Akhlaq, a PhD researcher at HDSM, gave a keynote presentation on “Intersectional Feminist and Anti-Colonial Perspectives on Museum Collection Data”. Her keynote addressed how intersections of race, class, and gender in museum spaces may manifest as data biases in digital museum collections. By applying intersectional feminist theories and anti-colonial concepts to the process of the digitisation and datafication of museum collections, her talk addressed the power differential that may occur in museums and other GLAM spaces and how they may be contested.
The full programme is available on the FORGE23 website.
